The Belize Red Cross works in 3 core areas: (a) Health and Safety in the Community; (b) Disaster Management & Risk Reduction (preparedness, response, recovery); (c) Dissemination of the 7 Fundamental Principles. It works with communities to develop resilience through capacity and skills building of community members so that they are prepared to better respond to disasters and emerging crisis and their effects on their livelihoods. Communities are also trained in Basic First Aid, Sexual and Reproductive Health, including HIV & AIDS prevention It also offers social assistance and provides basic necessities like food, clothing, water, hygiene items.
