In collaboration with volunteers from San Pedro in 2012, great efforts were made to reactivate the San Pedro Branch of the Belize Red Cross. Through meetings held with the community and recruitment of new volunteers, work began to form a new Executive Committee and to begin operations. Through the kind donation of Mr. Kirk Hankla, owner of the Galleria Building, an office was established. The Belize Red Cross gratefully thanks Mr. Hankla and the efforts of volunteers, Cristina Espejo and Laurie Norton for giving the Belize Red Cross the opportunity to have a presence once again in Belize’s primary tourist destination.

With the assistance of Red Cross volunteers from the island and very kind donors, the chapter held its first major fundraiser on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 at the Legend’s Burger House. The fundraiser was a huge success and $4,310.00 was raised. Later on with the assistance San Pedro Red Cross Branch volunteers, BRC conducted a basic First Aid training for residents of the island.
